Ok, besides the fact that turbocharging your S2000 can be a VERY costly affair ($6500 for the kit, about $8000 installed with some gauges.), and the fact that you may be aquainted with your local authorities even more after the install, How do you pass smog once you install one of these kits? I'm still a little new to the idea of adding a turbo to a car that didn't alreay come with one from the factory, and I'm trying to get all of my answers picked out before I invest into one so your anwers and wisdom are greatly appreciated...

Here in FL, we don't have the emissions tests anymore. Too many people complained about it, so they just cancelled the tests. The turbo kit is made in Orange Park, FL, so there isn't really a concern for smog tests.

Great for us modded cars.

There are no CARB approved turbos. Which means, if I'm not mistaken, you can't have it on your street car in CA anyway.

I have a concern with the intercooler - it really blocks a lot of the area of the air intake, not to mention it pre-heats whatever air does get through to the radiator. If some people have had "4 Bars" when they add a front grill on normally aspirated cars, what is this going to be like on a hot day?

I've never seen more than 3 bars, even on hot days here in florida.

Also, for one or more reasons, I don't think it'll be CARB approved soon. That's not to say that it won't though, it's just that I don't know of plans to do it.

You pay $150-? to get it ilegally smogged. That`s the only way a turbo`d s2k is going to pass in California. Nobody is going to have a CARB number anytime soon. It`s not very easy to obtain.

I thought I saw Mark di Grappa say somewhere that he planned to get CARB approval for the unit he's putting together.

I've had to have my Supra Illegally smogged before and had no problems, and I know that OBD II computers can make it a pain in the arse but like anything else it will take time but I do believe that they will eb able to illegally smog an OBD II epuipped car...
