Default its baaack... peeling paint!

as some of you may know i just got my car back from getting the front bumper repainted due to peeling in the headlight area. i was very satisfied with the job because they were actually able to match the spa yellow pearl!! well after three days of having the car back it began to peel in the exact same spot! seems that everytime i drive the car it peels a little more.
Now my question is how many of you actually went though the trouble of getting the new "Revised" bumper with the bigger gap to clear rubbing? i think that is the only way to go becuase it it obvious that the bumper is in fact defective. can any of you help me out in terms of giving me the new bumpers part number and the steps taken actually get the bumper, ie calling some honda hotline or just flat out talkin to the dealer about it. i would really appreciate the help asap, cause my dad wont be a very happy person when he sees that its peeling again

I suggest taking it to the dealer and make an appoint with the local American Honda rep.

Definitely take it to the dealer and tell the Honda rep. Someone said that Honda won't acknowledge problems like these until they get enough complaints from owners.

I'm the person to talk to!!!!!!

I have been fighting this problem since I picked the car up...22 miles.

See my thread on "paint peeling" for the whole story.

1. My bumper was repainted twice - still peeled
2. Replaced bumper - still peeled
3. Talked/met with Local Honda rep. discovered the "redesigned bumper," but can't find a new part number still looking (it's has been over three weeks and still no word)
4. Honda Rep. stated I should write a letter to American Honda!
5. American Honda called me personal, they stated there is no problem with the bumper or redesigned bumper part number! On record they have no complaints about the front bumper peeling!
6. Please write a letter to Honda - addresses in "peeling" thread

RESULT SO FAR - WE ARE F*CKED! Honda will not recogized there is a problem with the bumper and this web site is not evidence there is a problem, according to Honda!

I'm going to apply Georgia Lemon Law and get my money back, if Honda doesn't reply to me within the next few weeks.

Seems like these problems are limited to owners of models earlier in the model year...

wow you can apply a "lemon law" on a cosmetic defect? i thought it only applied to mechanical things? well it might be different where you live but i will look in to the california version... dang! so if i were to go to the dealer asking about a revised bumper they would look at me like i was crazy huh... Keep me posted Joey!

O.k. Here is what we need to do:

We need to have someone write up a professional sounding letter of complaint to honda...

We need to distribute this letter to all the owners having the problem (electronic copy to be kept on this site or wherever).

Each one of us needs to send the letter in to the American Honda HQ, signed with pictures and any other evidence we have. I have already had my bumper painted (under warranty) and have the records of this.

We need to keep track how many letters have gone out and what type of responses we each get...

This is about the best that can be done, any volunteers?

An orgainzed angry mob is definitely better!

I have a Spa Yellow 2001 #341. No paint peeling but I had my headlight replaced and had to take the car back and have the bumber/light adjusted so that there was no more rubbing.

So far so good. Thanks to this and other threads alerting owners of potential problems.
