A company called "Solumbra" makes some products that take the sting out of the intense sun when driving top down. I use their fingerless gloves with gauntlets-very comfy, and a hat that has a large bill and a curtain around the back. I feel like the Shiek of Arabie but I'm comfy no matter what the sun dishes up. When we get these California heat waves, like right now, I slap on the hardtop for a few days and use the A/C- joining the crowd driving around with the windows rolled up. Why fry?

I get a sunburn in around 10 minutes during the summer. Top up during the day, down at night.

I drive top up most of the time due to mostly long distance highway driving for work. I dont like driving long distances at high speed with the top down. It wears me out. The heat doesnt bug me at all so when I am in the office the top is down. My coworkers love the Don King d00 in the AM.

Doesn't the steering wheel get as hot as hell in that kind of heat? I know those seatbelts do!

Unless I'm absolutely stuck in traffic AND 100+ degrees which hasn't happened ...yet. I don't plan on putting my top up again until October or November. Suncreen - yes, ball cap - no. I wear a visor (ya gotta feel the wind through your hair!)

I had a feeling you did that the first time I saw your car. You are the only person I have seen with really dark tint on each window, maybe you should get a hardtop!

Above 100= Top Down.

Above 110= Top up, AC full blast. That's just about my threshold. I tried top down driving when it was 113 outside...I didn't last long.

On the opposite end of the scale, I drive with the top down when the temps are in the 30s. Heater is awesome.

Sheesh, not a single response from any of our Canadian friends. Hey, you Canucks, that's 100 degrees Fahrenheit a.k.a. 38 degrees Celsius. Do you ever see anything like that in July? In about 6 months from now, we can look forward to Xviper et al telling us how well the S2000 starts when it's -40 outside [essentially the same Celsius or Fahrenheit]. But how about top down in extreme heat in such lovely places as Vancouver and Toronto?

Hey Reverend,

I've seen your sunburn and it's good that you put your top up

I always have my top down, even on days as hot as today. Of course, it never really gets that hot down here by the beach.

Dude, I laugh at that picture everytime I see it.
