I've never heard of the S being a gas guzzler..
I've heard stories of people getting 25 mpg on the highway, and what have you. I get 17.2 on the highway, and 15.4 on 3/4 city 1/4 highway. So.. what's wrong?
I do have intake and exhaust, but will that really make it go down by 10 mpg? Any ideas are welcome. Calling me stupid is too!
.
Engine tune in need?

Well, a couple thoughts - did you buy your S used or new? What is your cruising rpms? Maybe you have gears?
Also, doesn't an intake and exhaust increase the air, and thus the fuel, the engine consumes?
FTR, I get 30+ on the highway cruising at ~75 with properly inflated tires.

Haha, I only go VTEC every once in a while
. (once a day usually) I cruise in the city, in fourth around 4k, and on the highway in 6th at 75-80 ish. So in the 4k range as well.
And yes, I bought it used. And I'm pretty sure it doesn't have gears. I've heard stories.. and I've seen my car in the air (I have auto and put it on the lift to do the brakes last week) and the diff housing is stock, doesn't mean the internals aren't, but the guy I bought it from boasted everything about his car. If he had gears, I'm sure he would have said something.
Oh, and I know it will create worse gas milage witht he I/E, but.. 10 mpg? I didn't think THAT much. Maybe 5 at the most.

How is your car in terms of up to date maintenance?
A dirty airfilter, clogged fuel sock, bad/old or improperly gapped spark plugs, semi-clogged fuel injectors, bad PCV valve, filthy throttle body, cracked or lose vaccum lines will all contribute to poor fuel economy. Too thick of fluid in the engine, tranny, rear diff, will also be bad for fuel use. A 2 psi variation in tire pressures will result in a 1% change in fuel economy. What pressures were you running when you assessed your car's mileage?
Are you driving UP in elevation when you calculated the fuel usage. Over how many miles did you do the assessment? A short run using a only a portion of the fuel tank is not a good assessment. If you drive up in elevation, you should have at least come back down a similar amount. Driving into a strong wind should be countered by driving "with" the same sort of wind. Did you use cruise control or maintained speed manually? Did you pass a lot? Did you speed up and slow down a lot?
Also, a combination of city and highway must be taken into consideration when reviewing the mileage obtained.

Since I bought it used, and don't have the manual. What's the rule of thumb for tire psi on the S?
