When the cars get old that's when they unload them to North America, at least Canada. We can import 10 year old (or older) vehicles from Japan but not newer ones.

you dont have to replace engines at 40k, thats ridiculous.
its based on how old your car is and how much miles are on it, the annual or bi-annual inspects are tougher or not, ie emission and vehicle safety.
its all bull about required engine changes for higher mileage cars, its just whether they are up to par with the inspection regulations. most ppl just find it easier to sell the car. in japan, they dont drive as long distances we we do here, and 40k here may mean 2 years, there it may mean 4. however their driving may be more stop and go and is more damaging to the engine etc.

whats also odd is that i picked up the 08 s2k brochure at my local honda and i guess Apex Blue was offered on the non-CR's here in canada last year as well, not sure if they're still doing that.
