Default J's header

For me, the header I'm going for right now is J's. Mugen-esque mid range power with some gains all the way to the top. The one thing stopping me from already having it on the car is that everywhere I've looked on here says I can't keep the stock headshield. The underhood temps are already high enough and I'm not in the market for an aftermarket hood, plus I want to keep the engine bay looking stock-ish. So here's my questions....

-What prevents J's header from keeping the stock heatshield on there? ( I haven't personally looked at it in great deal so I don't know how the headshield attaches in the first place...sorry if its a somewhat stupid question)

-If I can't keep the stock shield, what heatshield ( if any) can I use?

Thanks for the info.

The stock heat shields need places to bolt to. Most aftermarket headers don't have any attachment points build onto them. You can't just rest the heat shields there and hope they stay.
There is a camp that says you can use header wrap to reduce underhood temps. Then there is the camp that says this will harm the header or the engine or both. You'll have to decide which side to believe.

thanks for posting viper, but what i meant is how can i keep the engine stock looking? i know about wrapping, which would probably get the job done but would be pretty obivious that its aftermarket. i know the stock header is bolted on, i just wasnt sure where it bolted on to. which makes me wonder, is there anywhere i could jerry rig something?

I suppose you could use heavy gauge wire to tie the heat shields onto the header, but his would be pretty ghetto. There are only 2 aftermarket headers that come with the attachments - Mugen and Rick's.
