Default J's racing carbon air duct

All,

I have a Comptech cat back coming and have been looking for an induction solution that will not void the warranty on my 05S. Would like a CAI but have found a "snorkle" at J's racing ($428.00) called the carbon air duct that will install with no mods to the original body (since I do not want to void the warranty on my 2500 mile S) and am wondering what to do. Will the CAI void the warranty or should I get the "snorkle" or should I just "sit down and shut up". If I get the "snorkle" I plan to add an aftermarket air filter (K&N drop in or equivalent).

Suggestions?

Wrong forum????

Help the imbecile out...

Thanks

Pat

428 dollars? I'm sure you can find an ebay snorkel for around 50 bucks that will do the same thing, only not be carbon fiber.

will install with no mods to the original body
The "snorkel" requires that you remove the stock airbox intake horn. This involves cutting the little rivets that hold it in place. It also requires that you either remove the slanted airguide (not recommended but has been done) or cut a hole in it so the snorkel can fit through it.

A snorkel,is a CAI,with no,or very little danger of hydrolock.
Sure you can get one, much cheaper than $400.00;if you don't trust cheap ebay stuff, chec "Muz "snorkel.
As XViper said, you will have to cut or remove the air guide.
Or do like I did,get an "AUT cooling plate",and a JR Filter.
Check in Groupbuy forum, for price, pics, and comments.

Thank you gentlemen,

As always I knew I could count on you to keep me from making the ultimate blunder, but still the question remains... will a CAI void the warranty?

Thanks

It will not void the factory warranty unless they can prove that the mod caused the damage. You have a law that protects you on this. However, if you have only the extended warranty left, ANY mod can and usually does void the whole warranty.

A snorkel certainly won't cause any harm. A cat back won't either except for the parts that are holding it up, like the hangers or any damage caused by undue vibration. A drop in filter won't unless they can prove that it let in too much dirt and things like K&N have their own guarantee for stuff like that.

Let me be more specific...

I want to increase the air flow thru my intake with as little modification to the original car as possible. The AUT cooling plate appears to be a wonderful option but unfortunately I drove my first A/X in early December and heard another S2k with the Comptech CAI (MY02/03?...sorry if I got the year wrong PJK3) and I really liked the way it sounded.

Just for clarification...

Pat

Xviper....

Bought the S new on November 7 after lurking here for a couple of weeks. Original facory warranty and I did not buy the extended.

Thanks
