Once he nails down the problem how about posting the solution? I have the same tapping noise and would greatly appreciate some insight.

 

there are some documented fixes for this tapping /rattle - a little felt on the round plastic bits in the area you describe permanently fixed my tops tap/rattle - I don't seem to be able to find the thread - I do have it saved as a pdf file - I can email it if some one wants it PM me - amazing that jeff! - that he would travel half way across the country to fix the top rattle...cool.

I have the same issue with no resolution. I'd like to know what can be done as well.

 

Jeff is a true car guy and knows the S2000 inside and out. We kind of take him for granted here in Ohio sometimes. He deserves some west coast hospitality.
