Default Got a CEL

...Before you guys flame me, I searched for a while but I only found cases where the CEL came on while driving...

This afternoon I got on the car and while I was talking to someone about the car, I saw that the CEL was blinking (this without starting the engine). So I turn the ignition off and then again to ON (but without staring the engine).
The CEL stays on for a while like every time, but after 10 seconds it blinks 5 times and then disappears.
If I start the engine without waiting the 10 seconds, I don't get the blinking CEL.

It's not the maintenance light as I did my oil change a month ago and I already reset the indicator.

I'm not sure if the CEL is related to the fact that I've been working on my stereo setup for a couple of days, and I took off the HU front panel and disconnected the passenger airbag light. Since then I

ok its most likely the SRS light needs to be reset. I would start there. Anytime u disconnect the SRS line, the SRS light will come on. You can reset it by jumping a connector on the underside of the dash. I done it, but for got how. If you look in techincal FAQ or post in UTH, someone might know. Otherwise, take it to any honda mechanic or dealer, and they should know how.

Go pull the OBD code. Pepboys, Autozone, or Kragen will do it for you for free. Come back with the code and then we can make an informed guess.

Also try posting this in the "Under the Hood forum" but after you pull the obd code if you don't want to get flamed.

Dunno about the other places but Pepboys doesn't pull codes for free. But for $20, it's still a good idea.

My understanding is that if your CEL blinks, you're supposed to stop and turn off the engine 'cause it means something is SERIOUSLY wrong. But that's when the car is running. I didn't know the CEL turns itself off. I thought you had to actually clear it for it to turn off. weird.

good luck. Hope it isn't anything serious.

I guess I'll have to go to the dealer and get it sorted (as there are no Pepboys or such around here). Thanks everyone for your replies.
It's true that Xviper would be the right guy for this kind of questions
I hope he comes back.
