Default Just crashed my S2K :(

I've only had my red 05 s2K since January of 07 and I just had some old guy run into the side of it.

I'm in Florida and down here we have no fault, but still, your rates go up if you make a claim.

I'm more worried about what the tow truck driver said. The front drivers tire was crooked as it was pulled up on the flatbed, and the tow driver said he hopes they just don't total it! ARGH. I love that car! It's my mid-life crisis. I looked forever for that car (color, year, miles, etc) and I was so glad to finally get it.

I know, I should be happy that nobody was hurt. And I was actually nice to the old guy because I felt bad for him. I called my girlfriend to come and rescue me. Luckily I have another car to drive to and from work. It just sucks that we finally got nice convertible weather down here and now my car is in the shop or worse....dead.

Ok, somebody make me feel better.....please.

If no frame damage, a broken control arm wouldn't total out an 05.

Sorry for your loss.

And I HATE being from a no-fault state. It saves the insurance company money, supposedly. But it screws the individual that wasn't at fault. My rates are higher in a no-fault state than they were in a major metropolitan area, so I'm not buying the "pass the savings on to the consumer" bit.

I know it hurts, but it's just a car. As long as you are ok, the car can be replaced. By the way, I did not hit your car. You should be more careful about making those kinds of accuasations If you need an S2000 fix, come on up and drive my new CR. I have been so busy, it's not getting many miles. I just passed 500 miles and it is ready to be ridden hard and put away wet.

All levity aside, good luck with the decisions you will have to make and I am glad you are ok.

Thanks CKit. Actually Florida allowed the no fault to expire in October, then brought it back for Jan 1 of 2008. So those of us with accidents are probably in limbo somewhere. Down here it was the attorneys anc chiro's who wanted it brought back. Oh well. Didn't mean to get into an insurance gripe. I just want my car back.

So if the wheel was bent (ie, tire looked like it was pushed in at the top), I wonder if that means frame damage. I had it towed, so I guess once I make a visit to State Farm, they will tell me.

Crap - all of Florida is a no-fault state? I need to register my car there because I will never get it to pass emissions here. So my rates will be MORE expensive there than here in Atlanta?

Sorry to be off topic, and I'm sorry to hear your story. I've had my fair share of bad experiences too

Bent wheel probably does not mean frame damage. Bent doorjamb does.

The cockeyed wheel probably means the control arm was damaged. It's a few thousand dollar repair, but not near an 05 total. You'd have to get ~16k worth of damage to total it.

Sucks to hear man. If the frame's not bent, then just fix it. If it is? Get a CR
