Does Honda UK and Europe sell these as a spare part?

Have any of our Eurpopean or UK members driven to "the other side" and used such a kit?

Maybe the legal requirement was created for the OLD style headlamps where the reflector design DID change the light throw?

Even if you used the tape when travelling to Europe, if this is the case, then to use UK/ Australian headlamps in your LHD stook, maybe all you need to do is adjust your aiming?

I like this thread..I just took apart a headlight assembly and there is a small piece flat across with the step in it just behind the half spherical lense. It is on the bottom and the lense flips the light 180 degrees. I just flattened it slightly to decrease the notch. This allows the drivers side to be higher without the passenger side lighting up the trees and signs. This is a very difficult operation and requires removal of the headlight assembly, removing the HID glass rear reflector body (phillips screws) and accessing from both the square hole in the bottom and the aft hole where the HID attaches. It would help to be a dentist or something with the space available.
I am sure the difference between the left and right hand drive lights is just this little part (held in with one phillips screw.) I don't have a camera or I would take pictures. Anyone around Huntington Beach, Newport Beach or Irvine want to take some pictures??

Guys, you are getting this whole headlight thing confused and wrong. As an individual who has travelled around the world on a motorcycle in the 70s and 80s (the same motorcycle which I shipped from Australia) and yeah it was a long ride, I can assure you there are beam pattern differences from left to right hand side. In LHD countires I had to tape over the headlight (N.B. this is a legal requirement) to avoid blinding drivers - it is a very serious and dangerous issue! I have also imported a vehicle from North America to Australia (Firebird Formula/Transam) and as part of the conversion I most certainly had to have headlight replacements before I could get the vehicle ADRed.

BTW, taping over the headlights is only a temporary fix - think about it, you are reducing the amount of light being emitted (coz the lens is now partly covered) and you are not dipping properly onto the side of the road and getting the illumination you need in this critical area.

I still have my original lights for the Firebird and did some swapping over at one time - there is a huge difference in where the light goes and this is achieved by the shape of the lens.

With the Stook, however, the problem is with the actual frame or housing. As has been pointed out the HIDs do not use reflectors in the same way other lights do. I strongly suspect that the housing for each light is angled differently - for LHD vehicles pointing more towards the right and for RHD vehicles to the left.

Rest assured though, this is not a trivial or insignificant issue - you could well burn big bucks (or endanger yourself and others) by trying to fit RHD units to a North American vehicle.

I posted this under a group buy thread, but someone here may have interest also. I find this thread very interesting as well, because I too would like to put these on my car, but wonder about moving to a state with safety inspections (Maryland doesn't).
"For those with way too much time on your hands, here is the URL for the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. Everything you would ever want to know about the overiding safety regulations are listed here. The standard that governs lighting is #108 - good luck."
