My 2000 S-Type is up for its 30,000 mile scheduled Maintenance!

Then want to Replace the timing belt(its a chain), Inspect the water pump, Replace all accessory drive belts and replace the coolant.

Up above it says......"Honda recommends timing belts every 90K Miles/6years, Not 60K Miles(varies by model)."

What a load of garbage!

This sounds very much like the typical Honda service notifications sent out for any Honda. Since virtually all others use timing belts (not chains) and they are supposed to be changed every 90k miles, I suspect that it's not customized for the S2K. Call the dealer to verify but there's no reason short of a recall/TSB for changing the chain at this low mileage. Chains last MUCH longer than belts...

Pinky, I'm confused....did you decide to do this maintenance, or did the manual suggest it? Nevermind, I think your meaning the dealer wanted to do this....

Send a letter to Honda with that attached.
See if you can get them in trouble.
Better yet, send it along with some complaints....maybe you will get some goodies from Honda in return.

I thought the timing chains were suppose to require less maintenance than timing belts. The belts are suppose to be replaced every 100 000 KM, so I assume you can go longer with the chain.

Its from my local dealer! I think I should bring this up to the dealer and tell them to shove their timing belt. Though they seem to send this thing just after I pass 30,000 miles!!!

Hell what if I only had 3,000 miles on the car! Does or ODBII send out our milage to Honda?!
