Default Just had TSB54 Done. Wow!

Just had the clutch disk replaced under the TSB. All I can say is wow! After 21,000 miles the deceleration buzzing must have been getting gradually worse to the point that I almost didn't notice it. I had the car in for the seatbelt recall and thought I'd ask about the clutch. After a short drive they confirmed that it, indeed, needed to be replaced.

Did you know that you can actually hear the radio or talk to your passenger while decelerating from 4K to 2K RPM? The car is almost eerily quiet (comparatively) now.

Except for not aligning the shift knob perfectly and loosing all my radio presets everything seems to be good so far. It took about 20 miles for the ECU to relearn things. At first, the idle was all over the place but things are settling down. The ride home was strange without any tunes since I forgot to bring the security code with me.

Anyways, had good luck with Peter's Honda in Nashua, NH. I dealt with a service adviser named Jim - seemed like a good guy.

If you have a '00 and have not looked into this TSB do it! What a difference.

I know what you mean. I just had 54 and 55 done on mine and the clutch and transmission feel as pleasant as when I bought it. I'm at just under 10K miles and wonder if I'll have to do it again, now, though. Really would like to hear more about this supposed magic tranny for MY02 - and if we're going to get a free recall.

Hey, you're in Nashua? I live in Dallas but have been flying up to Manchester weekly or several months for work. Seen a few S's around; one of them's probably yours. If I make it back we'll have to get a beer sometime.

Regards,

I hate to dissapoint you guys but unless Honda has REALLY revised the clutch since then your noise will be back in about 3-4k milles.

Sev,

Is this from personal experience?

When I talked with the "Service Adviser" he said that although the old clutch disk surface looked in very good condition the springs themselves were very loose. He didn't see the new disk to comment on if anything was obviously different. I never saw the tech so I couldn't ask either.

Maybe I should get a DB meter from work and record the interior noise level while decelerating from 5K down to 2K. May be interesting to see what happens over the next few thousand miles.
