So in the ap1 vtec cross over occurs at 6k. When that happens is it best for the engine longevity to go wot or half or 3/4 throttle? In other words if I'm hitting vtec at 3/4 throttle and not mashing the gas is there the chance I will run lean or maybe rich at that point. What about wot am I running super rich and could get same acceleration with 3/4 throttle...just thinking out loud

I have no idea or technical expertise. But, it seems like it shouldn't hurt it...as if you were going around a turn (on a track) at 6k or above you wouldn't necessarily be WOT. You might be applying no gas, or feathering, etc...

It's really not going to make that much of a difference, if any. The truth is that this car was made to rev high so just do exactly that and have fun

Does VTEC even engage at 6k rpm at 3/4 throttle?

+1.
You shouldn't be afraid to break it. If it breaks, fix it. I would much rather enjoy the car for 20,000 miles and have it break than drive it like a granny for 200,000 miles.

My vetc engages at partial throttle, it is not as dramatic...perhaps the cpu controls this and remembers when i want to go where the gas pedal is located and just compensates?
