At 19,000 miles I have 4mm of tread on the rears and 5mm on the fronts of my OEM tires. Mainly highway miles although I have broken the rear end loose a few times. The roads around here are mainly asphalt (easy on tires).

Dive my 04 2 miles to work and 95% of trips are under 5 miles. I am at 20K miles now and replaced the rearsat 13K and fronts @ 17K.
I likely could have squeaked a few more from the front, but they were getting worn on the insides.
Only way to get 20K or more is all freeway.
PS- never done a burnout or any crazy driving either.

My "best" is 9k rears, 17k fronts. No burnouts, no track days, but I do toss the car around quite a bit. And the only tires I've used are the original Bridgestone S02s and Michelin PS2s, so they're soft tires to begin with.

I consider myself lucky if I get 4K-5K miles out of a set of rear tires... and maybe 8k-10k out of fronts. I run RE050A PP's.
I buy tires once a year. Of course this is due to autox, track, and dragons. You may say I waste my tires...but to me it's a waste to have an s2000 and not use your tires.
