Hi, I just came back from a dealer that's around my parents house in indiana. I don't know if it's just us or is it to everyone else that's about to purchase s2k? We been going to this dealer for almost all of our cars and we almost bought all our cars there...99accord coupe v6, 2001 odyssey, 2002 civic ex, 1997 saturn, 2000 isuzu rodeo, 2000 civic and soon to be 2003 s2k.. and also we refer them to everybody that needs to buy honda.. To me, we are big business to them because all the cars that we bought from them. I can't believe that they wouldn't let us test drive the s2k that they had in the show room!!!! I don't live in indiana right now so it's kinda hard to come by the dealer to talk to the sales person but when I do come by, I talk to him about the test drive but for last 3 times, they denied and told me and my parents some bullshit reason Y we can't drive.. is this problem to alot of people? it upsets me alot that the dealer that we spent countless money on can't trust us with a damn car that's not 100k plus dollars... well, I'm just letting my steam out because I don't want to buy a car that I can't test drive... And yes, the thing that pisses me off more is that we even put down a deposit for 2003 already(this tells the dealer that we're serious and not bullshitting)!!!!

I can see your frustration but how many threads do you see on the board from people who have picked up their 'new' S2000 with a suspicious amount of miles on it, perhaps because a dealer has let another potential customer test drive it? Getting a test drive in a used S2000 ought to be a lot easier than one sat in the show room. If it were your soon to be delivered car would you like another person to have driven it in anger before you took her off the lot? Whether you adhere to the 600 mile break in period or not I would like to be given the option on a 'new' S2000.

Alot of the dealers have stage fright about letting people drive these cars because Honda only ships a small number to every dealer each year.My sales person asked me if I was "ready to buy today"before he let me get behind the wheel.

they said the s2k in the showroom didn't have INSURENCE..WTF??? that's the reason that I couldn't drive it..

I know when i get the s2k, no ones going to test drive it because we're very close friends with the sales person... i got my accord with 2 miles on it the same day it arrived..

It's not an issue to do with trust. It's to do with putting miles on a "specialty" brand new car. Have you not seen all the threads on this board about how many miles were on your car when you bought it? There seems to be a stigma about having too many miles on the car for its first owner. Not all Honda dealers will take a brand new S2000 and turn it into a "demo". Demos immediately lose a great deal of their selling price. For almost all Honda dealers, the S2000 is Honda's mostexpensive/special car. I've seen them in showrooms with a fence around them . It will remain their "premiere" car till they sell it, at which time, the service dept gets it and then it becomes just another Honda again. You'd be better if you can find a dealer with a used S2000 on the lot. They won't mind putting more miles on one of those - unless of course, you look like a kid with no money and you show up at the dealership without your daddy.

OH! Wouldn't let you drive a used one? In that case go elsewhere!

You may also try getting your name out on the web to other dealers in the area.I did that and within two weeks a sales person called me and said he just took delivery on a new 02 in the color I wanted and had an 01 sitting on the lot I could test drive.
