dxlst, very cool H-Power!

Vince, tnx for the quotation. Do you know if Honda has started / tried manufacturing the F20C in the states? I know that all S2000s are assembled in the Takanezawa facility in Japan, but not sure about the engine manufacturing. If they're starting to build them here, I might go visit!

The s2k engine also spins in the opposite directions of the older Hondas too.

And BTW, I don't think there is another 2.0L Normally aspirated 4cyl. that puts out 240hp, that redlines at 9k rpms. So is it unique? I would say so.

that was actually a trivia question on Speedchannel a while back . . .

Q: What naturally aspirated production vehicle holds the record for the highest output of horsepower/liter?

A: Honda S2000, with a whopping 240hp at 2.0L, making 120hp/liter.

I second that. I believe it's from Thailand....heard how insanely cheap engines come by there. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I read somewhere that that person bought their S2000 engine for $1200??

All except the Insight and Hybrid Civic, which use smaller filters.

Has any automotive press actually gotton to test drive the concept car or a preproduction model for the Solstice?

I ask because its one thing to polish up some body panels, mold some interior, and weld them on a frame from another car and make it look good, but its quite another to actually tune the performance and handling into the car, especially a convertible.

Agreed. It was nothing more than a stylist's concept that was hastily thrown together with a variety of parts off the shelf because Lutz was not happy with what he was being shown as possible concepts. The tin top Solstice that was there didn't even have an engine in it, as I recall. The Solstice isn't any competition for S2000 and won't be -- even if and when built. But, it does show the kind of excitement Bob Lutz can bring to GM. Bob is a car guy's car guy! If anyone can save GM's butt, my money's on Bob.
