As for the car the ultamite plan is to build a great track/every day driver that is why I am concerned with the low end power. I am so torn with what to get either a 2003 or a 2004?
Then your choices are easy, IOW there IS no choice: get a MY03.
Why?
#1 - the F20C2 with its 9000 rpm redline.
You as a car chick just wanna have a 9k redline.
#2 - 16" wheels AND OEM Bridgestone S-02 tires.
They are the best IMO.
Allign the car a bit more agressive (UK-spec) and you'll never want to drive any BMW ever again.

IMO: forget about turbo's, change the final drive gears to 4.56's.
That will give you great daily driveability and track performance.

All you ever wanted

the 2.2L is best because the head holds up.

Just my 2 cents... Since I have AP2 with F20C2 (Best of both worlds ), we have NO F22 so never had a chance to run one of those.

1. F20 has 9000rpm redline which is quite rare, so if you're rpm freak, that's the one to go, you have about 1000rpm more VTEC area to play with;

2. F22 has a few NM extra torque, but the difference is minimal;

3. F22 has a little more displacement, so yeah, when turbo'ing you'll be able to force a little bit more fuel/air into the cilinders for extra power gains;

4. There are more kits available for the F20 at this moment but company's are making the compressor/turbo kits nowadays for the F22 too;

5. If you wanna go on the safe side, go with an S2000 with VSA (which also has DBW), in that case, I think you'll be in the F22 over there;

6. Whatever you go with, you can't go wrong and the difference will be minor. No worries with low end power for drivability, when the turbo spools, you will have plenty of power, no matter if it's MY03 or MY04! I do a whole lot of city driving (20000km a year) without a turbo or charger for the moment, never missed one cent of power...

My last car was an Evo VIII~ and unless you get a small ball bearing turbo, you'll get a ton of lag.
