Default Just a question for you guys...

Last november I went and bought my sister an 05 civic coupe. My brother has an 04 civic Si and myself driving an 03 ZX3 (after some bad luck with my 93 FD) I have gotten the honda fever.

I have been looking at new cars for a few months now (1 or 2) and I've been all around. I've checked out a lot of cars but narrowed it down basically to the S2000, the RSX-S, and the RX-8, (and to an extent the IS300... I have yet to really check this car out)

I fell in LOVE with the S2000 when I got my sisters civic. I hate the fact that it's Black/Black instead of Black Black/Red. I would love it with that Black/Red interior but I asked them about it and they said they could do it but I'd have to kick the nickel. On top of that they put the high wing spoiler, side strakes, and under body spoilers on it and the price is sitting at 42 thousand. They have 3 05's and they can't move them but they aren't haggling the price... what's up with that?

The RSX-S is so hot... Vivid Blue Pearl is the one I'm looking at but they're askin 6200 for the A-Spec package (6200 FREAKIN DOLLARS ARE YOU SERIOUS?!). And as for the RX8 I've heard VERY mixed reviews and although I enjoy it I'm almost a bit worried about driving that thing home... I like it but the price doesn't justify the car IMHO.

So what am I to do. I'd love to get the S2k down to at LEAST 32k... and I love the RSX (want to get something other than FWD) but with that A-spec package it'll kick to nearly 30k... for that I'd get the freakin S2000!!!.

I dunno anyone have some insight or advice? It'd be most appreciated...

Hardtopguy might be a great source for a price below 3.

Good luck on our decision.

For me, I test drove everything under the sun. The S2000 separated itself out of the pack. I'll confess I didn't want it to! It's not the most practical car in the world.

After a lot of soul searching, I realised a car is about driving. The S2000 hit me on all the emotional levels. Why spend significant money on something that doesn't get your juices going? That might not mean it's the S2000 for you. It was for me. I didn't want to look at a nice compromise car and wonder "what if I bought an S2000 instead?"

I don't recall anyone ever writing a post about buyer's remorse with the S2000. I grin every time I push the start button. It doesn't come off m face until I turn the motor off.

As for your dealer, "you is bein' ripped off." My '05 was a $1000 over invoice & included 7 year HondaCare. Generally speaking, the more accessories the dealer installs before purchase, the greedier they are.

You may try looking for S2000's on the internet. It wouldn't surprise me if people on this board are willing to help you in your purchase.

$42K seems high - where are you looking? If you're in a warm climate, I'd expect some amount of markup, at least on the sticker. In winter, they should be at or around MSRP to start.

I think it comes down to what you need more: converible or a back seat. I was dead set on a convertible; otherwise, the RX-8 would have been near the top of my list. I really wish I could get that gunmetal/blue color that mazda has - think suzuka mixed with silverstone and slightly darker. I passed one on I-81 yesterday and it looked hot, but that may be because it looks so much like my S2K

For me, I looked for the best performing drop top under $35K, and my choice was easy.

I'm with BlueDevil34 - if I didn't want a convertible, the RX-8 would have been a top contender - its a kick-ass car. You have to decide if you want a convertible, and all the hassles that come with one. If you can deal with the disadvantages, the advantages are well worth it imo.

As for the price of that S - $42k?? What is that dealer smoking? Go tell them you can get lots of S's for around 30k, and see if they will come down to like 33k with all those accessories. If not, just buy an S somewhere else - hardtopguy.com sells S's and accessories at good prices.

As for A-spec, I don't think its worth it. Its mainly an appearance package, and you don't really get any performance boost. Better to save the money and buy mods that will give better bang for the buck.

Those 4 cars are quite different....

Why do you have the S2K listed as one? Those others are all 4 seaters. Do you need a 4 seater?

I would say out of those 4 I would get the S2k or if I needed the 4 seater I would go for the RSX-s or IS300

Definitely look somwhere else for the price. Alot of us bought new ones for just $29,500 or somewhere really close. Go to Hardtopguy.com. I'm sure he'll give you a deal. That dealer is just trying to take advantage of you. S2000 fully optioned from the dealer usually are hard for them to get rid of b/c people want to do their own mods.
