Default Just a reminder!

Just wanted to remind everyone to keep an eye on the grade of fuel used on your car. This may only be applied to the small number of Northwest owners. Out here in Oregon we dont pump our own gas and as it seems there are many pump attendants who can't read or dont care about different fuel grades in different cars. I had to remind the jolly fellow two times this morning that i said P-R-E-M-I-U-M. And he definitly spoke english.

Off-topic but I saw a guy drive off with the pump still attached to his car yesterday. He stopped when a gas attendant ran out after him. Then he acted like it was his 7-8 yr old son's fault for not removing the pump.
Sorry, I didn't want to thread jack but you're talking about a reminder for pumping gas, so here's a reminder for everyone:
REMOVE THE GAS PUMP WHEN YOU'RE DONE FILLING UP.

Yup.. People in Oregon and New Jersey (I'm not sure about any other states) must let the attendant pump the gas for them.

What's the reasoning behind this?

Why you're not allowed to pump your own gas in Oregon is a good question. I've lived in the state for many years now, and still don't really know. At this point, it would displace a lot of jobs to simply end that mandate, but otherwise, I don't know why attendants are required. It makes for a good entry-level job. We are allowed to fill our motorcycle tanks ourselves though. I do keep an eye on the pump to make sure the attendant selects the correct grade. It's not that hard to have a brain fart, and pick the wrong one.

Because if you pump your own gas, it could trigger a nuclear holocaust. Same thing if anyone in Oregon drives over 55 MPH on the freeway.

I believe its for emissions. They don't want people who "don't know what they're doing" to spill gas and have it evaporate into the atmosphere. I'm not sure if that is the case though.
