Siler, what gives you this idea?
-------------------------
Fact is the S2000 is faster in 0-60, 1/4 mile, brakes faster from 60 MPH and will out Slalom a Porsche Boxster S by about 2.5 MPH. Nice how they compare a $33K car to a $60K car! Our cars are half the price and will out perform the S
-------------------------

I have good 10+ comparisions of BoxtserS and S2000 and in most of them the BoxtserS pegs the S2000 in most performance citerias (0-60mph, 1/4mile, standing 1km, top speed, cornering Gs, slalom, braking and lap times). I do have the odd one where the S2000 manages to steal a win in the odd criteria but that's rare. Yes, it costs alot less but it definatelly does not 'outperform it' ... at best the S2000 will hold even. If you want I'll post the numbers. Check out the conversation just above I was having with S2kguy.

I agree that performance is slightly better overall although I have seen the S2K beat the Boxster S in the 0-60 time depending on the launch.

I will say that the seats and the GPS option are nicer on the Porsche but it is really worth double the money.

I can definetly say that the S2000 is the best for the money.

Now if they were both priced even I would buy the Boxster S. I look my Stook but I do feel the Boxster S has a little bit of advantage on the stook if prices were the same.

Call me crazy (or PSYCHO, whichever you prefer), but if the prices were the same I'd still buy the Honda. Fact is, it just turns my crank more. I'll admit the Boxter is an excellent car (never driven a BoxterS), but for my taste it's too poshy, too soft, and it down right feels heavy. It's quiet and does everything well, but it just doesn't give me that grin the Stook does. I love the top operation and the low end torque, but that's where it ends. Even if the purchase prices were the same, have you guys checked the maintenance cost on the Boxter...good GOD.

Any of you Bay Area Boxster-haters are welcome to try and beat me off the line, or in the twisties.

We'll run stock tires (not AutoX) which means 17" for me. Top down. No mods.

I know how capable the S2K is. I fully respect the car. Now for those Boxster bashers (and I understand this is your board to do that, but still, I follow this board out of interest and respect for your cars), you think you can take a Boxster S so easily on the street?? We'll see.

Name the time and place.

I have the video file for sometime although I can not see the video, I can only hear the commentary.

I downloaded the codec and installed it but still no difference.

Which version of the codec did you install? The new 4.0 alpha 50 codec doesn't seem to work on my existing DivX-MPEG4 files.

See if you can find the non-beta, non-alpha 3.xx version. It works with that, I am sure.

Good post, 2x6.

I don't know who might have sparked any flames here, but I'd say that the majority of S2K owners respect the Boxster S and know about its advantages -- and are ecstatic that their relatively inexpensive Honda can run with it.

01BoxsterS: Disregard anyone actually bashing Boxsters, they're probably just your usual net-enabled punk with something to prove and nowhere else to prove it -- they don't speak for the majority of us here.

And, yes, you'd toast us off the line. Good thing that only a few cars (what rhymes with orangutan and sombrero?) are strictly about drag-racing.

Finally, Someone brought some sense back into this thread...

Honestly guys, sometimes some of you sound like ClubSI when someone criticizes their rides. To be blunt, I think some of you bought this car to impress people, why else would you get so upset by these things. "The Boxter S is a better car" ... well, no shit. They didn't say better car for the money... They didn't say better car than an S2000 with $25,000 in the trunk either.

Take the average Joe Banker, put him at a stoplight in a Boxter S and he'll blow the doors off the average Bill Banker in an S2000. The same thing goes for their respective leisurely "jaunts" through the mountains. I'm not trying to be critical, just realistic. Quit taking everything so personally. If you're happy with your decision then none of this should bother you.

Me? No, I can't afford a Boxter S... I'm still saving for an S2000. When I buy it (if that's what I get) I won't give a shit what some reviewer says when he compares it to the latest $50K+ car. MAYBE if I'd passed it up... maybe not.

I think it was a very good review. Remember at the end they say "There is no substitute for this unique roadster..." or something like that about the S2000.

They also modelled the S2000 as trendier IMHO. They had the younger more agressive lookign guy driving it.

I've watched it like 30 times and still love watching the S2000.
