Just test Drove an S2k, and I got some questions
#21
On a good S, the clutch is rock steady at any operational RPM and at any speed up to its max design speed. The S has twin and triple cone synchros that work wonders at high speed/rpm. The clutch/xmission was designed to work in the full range of this high revving machine.

Did you post about this car in the Mid-Atlantic Forum? You should get some good advice there, too. In any event, I'd pass on it.

Chikane: I am willing to bet that this car was not being sold through a Honda dealer. Whoever is selling the car, they must be a bit feeble not to catch such a glaring error, and have it taken care of via warranty. Selling at 1,000 miles is a prima facie indicator that something odd happened either to the car or its original owner. Pass on it.

There is concern here, even though the car has plenty of warranty left, as Honda may deny repair claiming that the previous owner somehow abused the car to cause this clutch damage -- and they may be correct for all we know. I have been driving my '01 for almost 8 years, and the clutch has always been smooth in operation and "shake" free.

Someone alluded to a good point. Why would a brand new car have taken that sort of loss to end up at carmax? In this economy there are better excuses but, usually it's because something is wrong with the car. Every carmax car any of my friends has owned had something wrong with it and several had accident repairs. IF there is a clean carfax that doesnt mean it's never been fixed.

Are you sure it was the clutch?
