K&N filter cleaner for Comptech filter?
I have a K&N filter cleaner kit sitting around and I was wondering if I could use it to clean my foam filter in my Comptech intake? I know the K&N kit is to be used on their paper filters - but would it be okay for the foam? Anyone done this? I just didn't want to have to buy another cleaning kit if I could just use the K&N one. Thanks!
um.. i suppose you could use the cleaning part of it.. dont quote me on that.. but the comptech's arent oiled correct? so dont oil it with the other half of the cleaning kit.
actually im not sure if the stuff they use in their cleaners are safe for the foam.. i dont think it would be, but it could be. so i guess you'd have to take a chance on that one unless someone else knows better.

Not a good idea, Shannon. I had to invest in the seperate cleaning kit for foam filters, even though I have the K&N for when I serviced client cars.
The cleaners are definitely different. You rinse both of them after the cleaner is applied, and oil them both.
You can check with Dave Turner Motorsports in Kearny Mesa to see if they have it on the shelf. Best of luck.

The Comptech filter does need to be oiled and is cleaned in the same way. Ive done mine with a K&N kit, but than found out later that it was said that K&N cleaner will break down the foam on the Comptech filter. Not sure if its true or not.
