How can you say the K&N is superior in quality to the JR filters? Do you have both? Have you had (bad) past experiences with JR filters? I have had good past experiences with K&Ns (on other cars), but I could not say they were better than JR filter without even personally seeing a JR product!

Since I now own a JR filter I can say (at least initially) the are on the exact same level as K&N.

cdelena informs me that Comptech also makes a drop-in air filter.

Does the JR air filter have any design advantage over the Comptech air filter?

Please enlighten me.

Thanks.

I "hacked" my airbox cover very early on for the K&N-810 filter and I regret it. I plan to replace the cover and use a JR drop-in some day. What was I thinking???

I need a group buy distributor in Spain for Cookie Cutter Group Buy #1 ...

But seriously.. I've always been interested in the K&N but have wanted to keep my airbox stock and intact. Is the JR available in Oz? Is the Honda filter really that sh!tty?

honda_s2k - why the regrets?

The JR is the way to go. No surgery on the filter box required. Quality equal to K&N if not better. Mingster posted dyno info on the JR if you are interested.

Muz,
I also just wanted to keep my airbox stock, if possible. Although I was able to do a fairly clean job on it using a Dremel tool, I probably should have waited a little longer for a drop-in.

As an engineer by profession, I don't like the idea of hacking something, especially when I do not have enough information to truly appreciate and understand the reasoning behind it's initial design.

The other reason for my regret is that, as STL has pointed out, the K&N's velocity stack was not specifically designed for the S2000, unlike the JR filter.

Oh well, it's not an expensive mistake in any event.

BTW, I am working on those pictures right now. Back to work.
