Default K&N filter or OEM? Why?

Need a new air filter. Is it worth getting the K&N or should I just grab an OEM?

I have had both the K&N is great you can always clean it so you dont have to buy a new filter.. I think a stock filter is like 30bucks each pop.....I dont know if I felt a difference but I think the K&N may flow better.... Someone correct me if Im wrong

The K&N OEM replacement filter actually makes you lose power. The velocity stack isn't designed right and it disrupts airflow. Go with the Comptech Foam Filter. It's washable so you don't need to buy new filters and it does give you more power, it may not be noticeable, but it's there.

I am leery of aftermarket air filters. The air filter is the first line of defense for engine contamination. The only way anything can get into your engine is by the air intake, gas, or you put it in.
I have read some of the past pros and cons for the aftermarket filters. I just never seen the micron ratings published on the box or any place else, so I stick with OEM.

handa-accessories.com has OEM filters for $23.40

If you are strictly a performance guy, by all means get some free flow something, something. If you are concerned about warrantee and designed protection, go OEM.

I have a brand new OEM filter; still wrapped in plastic. It's my spare but I'll sell it to ya for 25 bucks.

How often do you guys/girls change/clean your oem/aftermarket filters. I have an AEM CIA and don't know when I should change/replace the filter element (never came with instructions). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Sorry for getting off-topic. Thanks.
