Default K&N Filtercharger Gain 5.6 hp and 8lbs torque

Hey All. I went at Lunch time to See Tony...aka ajs2k do some dyno pulls at Bruces speed shop in New Jersey. First bruce has a dyno jet on a trailer and he sets it up Right by route 46 so the whole world can see ya getting a dyno which is pretty cool....Got lots of people looking and beeping...very cool. Ok ajs2k did two pulls the first was 195 and change the second was 198 and change. Not sure about the torque but it is in this thread https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?...388#post1094388

Then bruce installed ajs2k's K&n Air charger. I don't believe he bought it there but bruce installed it. Ajs2k was telling bruce hey K&n says it adds 10 horse power....Bruce looks at me and say's yeah right with a big smile on his face. I left but according to the dyno run after i left AJs2k got 5.6 more hp and 8 more lbs of torque. Thats not bad plus no worries about sucking in water with the K&n like the injen or aem. I have the aem so I was going to wait til spring for my pulls but i just might have to
pull before then...Oh By the way ajs2k is all stock except for some mean 18"ssr's. he has like 3800 miles.

Bruce was salavating at the chart on the computer he was like look at the a/f ratio.very rich...it looks jagged or what ever he said...He was like i could definetly tune this up with the aem ems to get more horsepower without a doubt. ...Waiting in the sideline was an integra type "r" Which is getting tuned with the aem ems. So I recommended this shop to ajs2k and after being there and hanging it was a great experience. Very mellow. I would recommend this shop to anyone. also WOW
I was shocked with the K&N Numbers. Not bad at all.

Nice results. That is the second set of Dyno results I have seen posted to the K&N Filtercharger. The other one was here: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?...&threadid=69312 He reported +4.6 hp and +7.5 ft-lbs at peak, so right around the same results. Now I just need to figure out whether I could still use my IDI scoop with the K&N. Looking at it I think it is possible. Has anyone out there with the Spoon/IDI/Aus Intake extensions tried using them with the K&N Filtercharger?

I just ordered the KN filter for my 02. Does it sound the same with the KN filter and the airbox cover on, as the stock filter sounds with the cover off?? I ask because I'd like to see the performance gains with the deeper sound.

So is a K&N filter that replaces the stock cone filter and it gains approx 5 hp?

No, its looks like some of the wrong info is being given here. The Aircharger System costs ~$275 and is a quasi cold air intake. The filter alone will give no gains, as I understand it.

There have been a lot of threads on here with dynos that show that the filter itself is good for 5 hp and 8 lb torque...check the link in this thread

I've heard claims like that but I don't believe them. I've got a JR's Filter, which is practically identical to the K&N and I sure did not get any new HP or torque. I've never seen a dyno on this board that would document any significant increase just by adding a K&N. Anything less than about 3 hp can be attributed to dyno inconsistencies anyway

On the other hand, the increases reported for the K&N Aircharger system have been pretty consistent in the various posts I've seen. Even more on some US cars.
