Default K&N Intake/ or Spoon Carbon Duct?

I am debating between the FIPK kit or the Spoon sports carbon duct with the K&N filter. My buddy was telling me that Hondas need a box and should not use an open filter?

Any advice?

Thanks!

The FIPK has a box. It's just that it uses the underside of your hood as its top.

Holy Off Topic, Batman!
Actually, 2 days ago, it got up to 82. We can experience huge temp extremes throughout the day and throughout the week.

Everything is relative. You indicated a range of "only" 40 degrees.

We've been known to go from -31*F to +60*F in 12 hours. That's a 90 degree swing. I'd rather have yours.

OK, to keep this somewhat on topic, the Spoon "snorkel" is an add on which provides the stock airbox with "not so hot" air. While is makes the OEM intake into a "cold air" intake, the K&N is a completely different intake and some say that not only is it a "cold air" intake, but it is also a "performance" intake, giving you a "few" extra HP.

I don't know about the HP gain (so it must be miniscule if any), but I can say that my K&N FIPK has definitely improved my gas mileage. I got it installed a few weeks back and drove the last few tanks of gas pretty hard just to enjoy the intake noise (that and its my normal driving habbits to have some fun with it when no one is on the road) and I've see about 2 mpg increase. It also sounds real mean in VTEC.

Again, can't really comment on the power gain but K&N claims 9.5 HP at like 6700 RPM, but I doubt it.

The K&N sounds great. That's the reason I got it.
