key ignition mod
i havent seen this around but just curious if anyone seen it.
i'm having problems finding the key hole for the ignition so wondering if anyone did a mod. since all the new cars come with some kind of light around the ignition i automatically assumed my 06 should have one
i was planning to install a LED in it
any heads up .... tia

OK, seriously now. If you really wanted to illuminate the keyhole with some sort of LED light, first you need to find a way to adapt the light to 12VDC. Next you need to somehow be able to splice it into a circuit that would be able to tell this light that you just opened the door and got in. Then you would need to find a light that had some sort of self timer, so that it could shut itself off after so many seconds.
I know that there are cars out there that have an illuminated keyhole that does exactly this. I'm sure that's where you got the idea from. It might be easier to go to one of those cars and buy the parts and adapt it to your car.
You don't want to mount a light in there that you would have to turn on manually. If you can't find the keyhole in the dark, you won't be able to find the "ON" switch for the light, either.
Personally, when I get into the car in the dark, I'll do one of the following:
1. Leave the interior light switched to the position where it comes on when I open the door and just leave the door open till I see and find the keyhole.
2. Push the map light for my side to illuminate the area till I find the keyhole.
3. Hold the key in my hand but with my index finger held out along the shaft of the key and feel for the keyhole. Once I find it, the key goes in.
I almost always use method #3 both when starting the car and for starting the woman.
(Sorry, serious part over.)
