Keyfob Range

2002. 30 feet works consistently, and it can work up to 50 feet if I press it a few times. It also seems like I can unlock from further away than I can lock it. I had more consistent long range when the battery was brand new (6 mo ago).

Mine is 20 feet, on a good day. Even with fresh batteries, still the same thing.
Sometimes I'm standing right next to it and I have to click it a few times to get it to work.

^ im with him. the one thing that i do notice to helps with not having to click so many times is adjusting the little prongs underneath the battery. If you bend them up it makes better contact with the battery. That always helps.
also, i know you weren't looking for a fix but its discussed in this thread https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/520...keyless-range/

I found you can get close to 300 feet or a city block if you kiss a cute gal at the same time you press it on your throat and hit the button. Has to be a good looking gal. I works if the gal does the same. Synergy.
Of course when I kiss a good looking gal, lots of things are unlocked.

Thanks! Now I know what I'm doing when I get home.

I posted earlier that I have 100+ foot range in my '06 with same batteries that were in fob when I got the car 2 years ago (so I only know they are least 2 y/o).
I just tried it the office window. I'm on the 4th floor. Worked np. I'd estimate its about 130' at ground level from building to car. So a bit farther with the trigonometry.

The spaces are wide enough, and S small enough that I don't worry about door dings. Its a dd, so I while I try to keep it out of harms way, I also try to balance things that I'm not paranoid about keeping car pristine.
Everyone parks nose first, no one car pools, no one gets stuff out of passenger seat. So only the drivers door opens. The is a slight hill, so drivers door opens uphill, meaning gravity won't pull it open and whack me should there not be enough swing room between us. When I pull in, I check how much room to car to the left and how long their door is. I won't park next to them if there is risk their door could whack me. Most of the time its not an issue.
So yeah, I've given it some thought...

Love the fact that you're not paranoid, yet calculated the degree of downward slope on that parking lot, stalked the others drivers to know that no one car pools, and multiplied it by the gravity of our earth to synthesize your low percentage of door dings.
I can only lock/unlock by car from less than 50ft. On an 03 Honda accord the alarm went off outside of Petco. I was in the back of the store and the key fob turned it off. Puts my S to shame.
