Default Keyless entry already stopped working?

Hey guys,

Well my S has been garaged since the end of August, I know! Well anyways, the garage door needed to be replaced so I pushed the S into the driveway, and when I went to lock it, my remote wasn't working. I bought the car new in July of '05. This seems kind of early for the battery to be dieing. Think I could take it back to the dealer and get a new battery under warranty? If not, its not a big deal. I just thought the remote would still be working. This happen to anyone else?

Kevin

Those batteries are insanely cheap. I think I bought 10 for $5 shipped off ebay. Seems like less of a hassle than talking to a stealership.

I think a year and a half is more than enough. Did you think the battery is really gonna last you that long. I'm even more suprised that it lasted over a year, to tell you the truth. Dont even bother trying to get a free battery that you probably wont get. They'll just look at you weird, thinking how long is this tiny battery suppose to last you....years? . Come on, lets be reasonable. There cheap as hell, just buy one.

Yeah, I guess I'm just a newbie with remotes. I'll pick one up in a couple weeks when shes ready to come out for the summer.

Before you buy a new battery, see if the trunk release button in the car is working. If that works but the remote doesn't, then it's the remote battery. If the trunk release button doesn't work either, then check the fuse for the power locks.

I haven't changed my battery in 4 years.

Probably more related to use rather than time.

If your car hasn't been started since August your car battery may be dead.. Do the interior lights come on?

Yeah, good point. The power locks won't work if there is no power.
