I don't understand why a $30K + sports car by Honda won't even have a basic alarm build in (even a RSX has a build in alarm).

What we have come standard on S2K is not alarm, but a keyless entry. I wish Honda can adopt what VW or Audi did to their key, I had an Audi A4 came nice keys with all features build into the key fob.

That's the Honda factory alarm then

Well, you could actually wire an aftermarket alarm to use the trunk release solenoid.
no its not the honda alarm but similar and hopefully better. looked at over a dozen type of systems before making a decisions. in the end i decided on having an alarm and lo-jack combo vs pagers or motion sensors type systems.

in fact my very 1st post on this forum was regarding security for the S.

my alarm works with the factory keyless entry. i didn't want to lose the trunk release option when i got the alarm.
You don't lose the trunk release, it just doesn't say trunk any longer. It is labeled as "option".

I used to have the VW key. It was over $200 when it broke on me! I don't love that at all!

The AP2 key aint cheap either! It's 200 bucks for the key itself (for the key with the S2000 logo), and another 100 to program it ... it's crazy

Did you mean programming for the remote entry? Or the immobilizer?

I always wondered that myself. Then again, Honda always seems to do something crass- only to give a small upgrade a year or two later, which makes people like me always want to upgrade...upgrade...upgrade..

Nice of you to cross- thread. Now I know why so many trolls are posting in it.
It must be something in the bacon you canadians have been eating.
