For me this is a mod from the factory. My remote has always unlocked both doors with one touch. Must be a difference between the USDM and European market cars I guess.
Funny you mention this. There was a story I read a long time ago about American and japanese engineers working together on a car. The American engineers insisted that the first push only unlock the drivers door. The Japanese couldn't understant why? The Americans said that it was a safety issue and if all doors unlocked, a stranger could enter the car. The Japanese response was, "Why would someone want to do that?" I guess there's no carjacking in Japan.......

Colin, that's fascinating. I suppose that sorta makes sense. Gotta' love our US mentality.

Well, don't forget that many US cars go even further than that - as soon as you start driving, all doors lock automatically.

Slightly different question along a similar vein - is there any way to mod it so that manually unlocking the drivers door from the inside will also unlock the passenger door? Its a pain having to reach across from the drivers seat every time...

One million cool points to the first person who gets this done.

I also have a question because I'm not walking out to my car right now (two and a half days old )
To unlock the passenger's door, do I need to press it THREE times, or just twice?
Thanks.

OMG... You could probably test this by sitting in your car for about 3 seconds...

Okay, but just as I suspected I only have to press the unlock button twice to unlock the passenger's seat. Why do ya'll have to press it three times?

I only do mine 2 times for both doors. Once for the driver side, again for passenger.

What's with this pressing the remote 3 times???? Mine only takes 2. Big deal! Pressing a little button twice.
