Looks like a great trip, congrats on the car! I quite like it with the painters tape. =)

I made a somewhat similar voyage once, friend and I picked up his MR2 Spyder (with 2zz-ge) in Houston Texas and drove it back to Maine - top down the whole way!

I had the same experience in Oklahoma while driving from CA to DC. It is legal for the cops to sit with their lights off and just wait. Surprised the heck out of me since Texas is notorious for catching out of town speeders.

That is not Hoover Dam - that is the Pat Tillman - someone else bridge. As of this past fall the road over the dam is closed to traffic. The dam was to your left and below you a couple of hundred feet. This is why you were not able to see it.

The Hoover Dam was completed 2 years ahead of the due date and was under budget. The bridge by comparison was well over budged and took nearly 3 times as long to build as the dam.

Welcome to the family - a great adventure to have - now it is time for roads with some bends in them.
I was not aware of that. Good to know though.

Is there even a way to see it now? We drove around a bit and couldn't figure it out.

The road splits for the dam and for the bypass way before the bridge. I have not been there since the bridge opened. I assume there are signs for it but not sure.

Wow that looked like a lot of fun. I did MS to CA a few years back. My brother and I did a straight sprint the whole way...... no sleep stops lol. Needless to say we took turns sleeping so we didn't take very many pictures. Your thread makes me wish I did :'(
