My Mom, who passed away on 1/1/02, wanted to go for a ride.
I took her down I-485 one late October evening, with the top down and the wind in her hair at 120 mph. She loved it, so did I and, for that moment, I didn't give a shit about anything but being there, with her, having fun.
Godspeed Mom, I love you!

Thanks for the comments, it's been a long, strange trip, these last few months.
Maybe some of us locals should think about a little
impromptu meet, some late evening, soon.
I have 0 points and am ready to have some fun.
We can do an "after-run" @ my house with beverages and a hot tub. Anyone interested? Let me know.

Hottubbing and driving..well that sounds cool..too bad I don't have an S2000 yet...but I do have a racecar (SpecMiata) does that count.....as an ex Skip Barber instructor I could pass along some driving techniques...

Lisa: sorry to hear about your mom... I guess that it's best to go out driving with the top down, wind in your hair, tear in your eye and the spirit of your mom always in the passenger seat, grinning like a maniac as you push into VTEC, knowing that she'd be whooping with joy....

Hey - touching stories - clearly some excellent mothers out there.
My mum's almost 70 and turned down a 16V Calibra around 7 years ago as she thought it was too fast. The next year she bought a new (end of line) 4 litre Jag XJS celebration model, recently traded for an XJ Sport.
Can't wait to take her out in the S2000 !!

lisa,
sorry to hear about your mom. my dad is presently hanging on by his fingernails with cancer, but still wants to go to the dr's in the s2k when its my turn to take him. he says it makes chemo easier to take knowing the wind will be blowing in his hair (or whats left of it).
unfortunately he cant drive it due to some cancer related nerve problems in his feet. but i see the grin when we hit vtech.
mike.

In September I finally talked my wife into driving the S. We were on I40 in CA. She had it touching 120 before she caught traffic and said "That was great, it feels very stable. Now teach me how to do the curves." It sounds like your mom has been promoted to Angel status and will be watching over us all.
