80% to be exact. If the car is valued art $30k, then repairs over $24,000 would qualify for a salvage.

My wife Daryl (she talked to you quite a bit after the accident at Laguna Seca) had both front seats stolen from her Integra; wound up being $12,000 to fix that, so $16,000 for your repairs doesn't seem that bad.

He has nothing to worry about as it was NOT a racing event at all. The S2KCA track day at laguna Seca had instructors guiding all the newbies, and it was not a competitive nor timed event. Those are usually the things insurance will NOT cover. Since he was in a driver instructional event, he should be covered. Trust me, it definitely was NOT a racing event.

I see. I think Aus Insurance companies are a little harsher on their definition of a racing event. Something like 'If you've watched any nascar in the last 6 weeks, it's a racing event'.
