if i go to 18" wheels i understand that i should lower the car cause it sits a bit higher...
if this is the case, wouldnt the overall wheel circumference be larger?
(am planning ssr gt-3s with eibachs)
and if so, does the speedometer/ odometer need to be adjusted for the change?

you dont need to lower the car. if you get 18s you should be doing a plus 2, so the wheel size increase, but the tire's profile is less, so the overall diameter should be roughly the same. some people think lowering it makes it look better, but you dont need to lower it.

your car isn't sitting any higher than a stock s2000.

it just looks that way because your eyes are playing trix on you. the gap between tire and fender looks a lot bigger with your 18s because you now have more shiny SSR metal v. 16" tire black sidewall.

lower away. it'll look a LOT better.

it is said that larger wheels have the ability to cause your speedometer to read a little bit off, however it is nothing major. if your seriously worried about it, i would go ahead and get it done. but i had 18" wheels on a honda civic before.. never really had a problem.]

like others said, you just make sure you get the right profile (255/35/18 vs 225/50/16) which will compesate for the larger wheel

the total heighth of the tire

= 16" wheels x 25.4 mm per inch = 406.4 mm
+ 225 x 50% (profile) = 112.5mm x 2 (which is for the top part of the tire plus the bottom) = 225.

Grand total = 631.4 mm

= 18" wheels x 25.4= 457.2 mm
+ 255 x 35% (profile) = 89.25mm x 2 = 178.50

Grand total = 635.70 which is only 4.3mm (1/6th of an inch) taller.
