Default Leaking Top at passenger side window

Albeit i did notice a slight gap at the back of the passenger window and the covertable top when i bought it and was well aware that it would leak. But it leaks like a biotch, I have no idea how to resolve the issue. I am sure the car had been wrecked before. The gap is about half the width of the tip of a pinky finger, which is still signifigant eitherway you look at it. What could be the problem? Window malaligned? Top needing adjustment?? It locks in place and folds back just fine. Anyone had this same problem or know how to resolve the issue or an idea? If anyone needs pictures to help me along the way let me know and ill go grab the digicam.

Try treating the seals with some Shin-etsu grease (from the Honda parts counter - or HardTopGuy).

You may be surprised at the results. The seals tend to harden and shrink a bit if left unprotected.

There is a slight gap at that point of the window seal/roof fold/etc., so don't expect to see a perfectly flush window there, even on a window without leaks.

If you really wanna get into it, I believe there is an adjustment on the track of the window regulator to change how the window actually sits. That will take more research to verify, and a helm's manual.

ok cool, but im not refering to a gap at the top of the window and conv. top. Thats where the leak starts to come in. But the gap itself is on the back/ bottom of the window/ door/ conv. top. Like the window sits too far out on the back or the top is too far in. Everything hits good on the top, i guess it just starts to stray off towards the back. If any of that makes sense, lol. If some pics would help let me know. In the meantime ill buy some of the stuff for teh seals.

Hmmmm, that is hard to picture.

What i'm visualizing seems hard to adjust.

Maybe a pic would help. There are alot of good people on here that will have some ideas. Post a pic if you can and see what you attract.

I think I understand what you are trying to describe.
First, the silicone grease will help the leaking at the top.
2nd, that gap near the bottom is a window glass adjustment issue. The glass itself needs to be "pushed" in. This will involve adjusting the window guides inside the door. The Helm manual speaks of this. Although a "tiny" gap is acceptable (mine has this and causes a bit of wind noise, too), one the size you speak of needs to be adjusted out. Unless you have a Helm manual and are a "handy kinda guy", you should take it to the dealer to have it done.

The information you seek is locate on pages 20-11 through to 20-14 of the Helm manual. I'm not sure you want to spend that kind of money on a manual just to do the window adjustment. I think it costs something like 50 - 70 bucks U.S. You can get them via this website:
www.helminc.com
(Don't tell anyone, but if you are in a real bind, PM me your email address and I'll scan those pages for you later today when I have some time.)

I just noticed the door where the gap is doesnt appear to shut as far as it should. Which im sure is a contributing to the gap problem. Door adjustment???

So, are you saying that the edge of your door (the painted part), when shut, is NOT flush with the body of the car that's just behind it?
