Default leasing or buying

Hey guys
I am buying a new car! YEAHH
I've been drooling over S2000 for a long time. I recently discovered this website where S2000 lovers gather. Anything you guys have to say to pull me back for buying a S2000?

I don't plan to keep this car for long (probably for 3 years). Leasing a good idea?

Leasing maybe not the best idea because most likely you'll pay 60% over the term of the sale price.

I leased mine and my total lease is about 16k. I don't drive that often and I don't keep my cars long so lease is perfect for me.

Leasing is great if you know that you can keep your milage down and that you will be turning in the car. It puts limits on your insurance, it keeps your mantiance costs down but in the long run it is not a good idea.

I leased my S2000 on advice from my father, I thought that I would simply trade it in or that they would discontinue/revamp the car before I was done with payments, so I would be better off then most.

Then I fell in love with my car I started to modify it. I wanted to buy it. But I made a 4000+ doller mistake because when I change over I have to factor in the money factor as part of my payment.

So in a few words buy the car and better yet get a lightly used one if you can hadle that. I learned my lesson big time no more leases. But if you can write it off then thats a different story all together.

Of course the depretiation of this car is very uncertan at this time in the long run 5+ years. I have a felling that there will be a watershed price around 19,000 or so for the older 2000-2 models around 2005 or so and that the price will not move simply because there will always be a demand for the car due to its limitad avaliablility and that I believe most owners when payed off will not sell the car but keep it as a second.
