LED blinker
please help. I tried a plug in led blinker bulb today on my TL which might end up being useful to you guys. when i had the emergency lights on, they blinked fine, but when only one side was activated via the stalk, it started byper flashing. there has to be a way to fix this. cut, cross wire? thankx-perfectly clear bulb, blinks high tech red.
Although I can't quite figure out the problem from your description, there shouldn't be a problem in turn signal mode, provided you connected the LEDS properly. When you signal to go left, for example, there's no power to the right socket, so it should not light. There's nothing in the way LEDs for automotive use operate that should created the problem you're having.
You first want to make sure the LED is directly compatible with your turn signal bulbs. I ordered LED replacements for the 7443 stop/brake lights from nextcollection.com. The manufacturer of the LEDs is AIC. I've only tried one and it doesn't work. Checking the LED against the bulb, it has a different (glass) base profile, and the connector pin material is not the same. I can just get the LED to light if I jiggle it. I'm not sure if it is a direct equivalent; it probably only works on Taiwanese cars!
I suggest you try getting a set through: http://www.netdisty.net/cross/ These guys LEDtronics don't actually sell direct to the general public, so call or email, and they'll put you in touch with their sister company (Netdisty). I believe this is where Rick is getting his side marker bulbs (if they ever ship out).
