[QUOTE=olapua,Jul 24 2009, 09:06 AM] ^^^ I believe the consensus is that the seats are not all leather. Only the perforated parts are leather and the bolsters and rear are vinyl.

What happenned was I was driving around town doing errands so I locked all the little stuff in the glove compartment so I didn't have to roll the top up nad down.
Once I got home, I couldn't get to the garage opener cause it was locked.
Had to turn the car off and since it was bright sunny outside, I left the car out thinking I might just wash the car.
Well, I fell asleep taking a nap and didn't wake up till the neighbor kept knocking on the door.

Interesting. My bolsters certainly show the "wrinkle lines" like real leather and they soak up my Lexol leather conditioner just like real leather.
People say its not real leather, I always use leather cleaner/conditioner on them anyway.

The seats are all leather with a vinyl coating over the grain. Most new car leathers are like that. I would recommend letting it dry a couple of days before putting on the conditioner so the oils don't block the excessive moisture from getting out. Most of it will be in the foam.

I may be making it sound like it happens all the time to me, no it does not but in 35 years of driving convertibles, it has happened more times than I care to remember. 3 times for the S2000 and no total downpour in the S just mild rain/sprinkles for up to a few hours. My FIAT I actually had holes cut in the carpet over some drain holes in the floor pan that I drilled but it had no electronics like the S does so I did not have to be as careful. I actually try to avoid in the S but being a top down guy its impossible to avoid.
i love the disclaimer incase your ever list your car for sale on these forums.

Trust me, I doubt the car will be sold in this forums lifetime.

The car I sold to buy the S2000 was a 1973 FIAT that I bought new in 1974, if I can keep a FIAT on the road for 34 years without ever seeing a tow truck or the side of the road, its safe to say the S2000 will last me just as long, that would mean my heirs will be selling the S2000 and this forum will have been long gone by then.

To the other poster that said get a Hardtop, F NO, I don't own mommy wagons, I have always owned convertibles and always will. Just like you most likely did not buy a Hi Def color big screen plasma TV so that you could watch it in low def Black&White, I did not buy a convertible to drive with the top up.

Yes, the other poster in Goleta, you should have seen me, its my daily driver and I lived in Goleta until Feb. this year, now in SB but still work in Goleta.

Damn that sucks. Just did the same thing yesterday but went outside before it started really pouring. The seats were soaked and the center console and all but luckily the floor and dash and all was completely dry. I'm just gonna leather care the seats and be done with it.
Was in a room with window shades and could not see or hear that it was raining. Was really nice when I parked it too. Sucks.

no rain with the s2k but i was once at a sonic and i left my sun roof open and i was eating under the overhang. it later downpoured. i forgot about the sunroof being open but the car was halfway under the overhang anyways.

when i was done and went back to my car i saw the overhang ended about where the sunroof was and it was at the junction where the roof funneled all the water into a waterfall directly into my interior through the open sunroof. i probably had 20 gallons in the car. took a month or so to get the damn wet dog smell off the interior (leather seats were fine though).

nice little lesson for me. with the s2000 i mostly put up the top not because of the threat of rain but the threat of bird droppings.
