Default Left my top down when it rained today.

I fell asleep when it started pouring.
I only woke up cause a neighbor kept knocking at my door.(this was like 4pm).
I guess it got rained on for like 10mins before I pulled into the garrage.
Took me an hour to dry everything off.
So far all my amps are still working as I took the rear tray out and rain did get back there.
My concern now is the leather stuff inside.
Anybody ever had their car rained on ??
Any precautions I should be doing ??

happens to me often, put it out in the sun for a good drying AND feed your leather, that is the important part, get whatever leather treatment you prefer and feed it, it will dry out and crack in a few months otherwise.

I personally prefer and use Connolly Hide Food but just get something on it as soon as its dry.

I used to worry about it when I first got the car because of all the electronics in it but so far the only thing I lost was the drivers side window switch and dealer replaced it. If it REALLY GOT SOAKED you might want to remove the carpeting but after a few times, I don't bother anymore, just leave the thing in the sun for a day.

I may be making it sound like it happens all the time to me, no it does not but in 35 years of driving convertibles, it has happened more times than I care to remember. 3 times for the S2000 and no total downpour in the S just mild rain/sprinkles for up to a few hours. My FIAT I actually had holes cut in the carpet over some drain holes in the floor pan that I drilled but it had no electronics like the S does so I did not have to be as careful. I actually try to avoid in the S but being a top down guy its impossible to avoid.

How would that help? The hardtop would be left in the garage.

Just dry everything off and let the car air out - the seats are mostly vinyl but use a leather treatment on them and leave the top down so the carpet can dry out or it will get mildewy.

It doesn't rain much in SB either lol. BTW I live in Goleta, I don't think I've seen you around town.

that sucks bro why would you leave it with the top down? make sure you take the seats out and dry everything you dont want any bad oders in there too

Not sure what kind of S2000 seats you have but mine are 100% leather on on the fronts, sides and bottom portions. Perhaps the back is vinyl.

Install a rain sensor on your S2000 with pager alarm! Yes they make rain sensors!

^^^ I believe the consensus is that the seats are not all leather. Only the perforated parts are leather and the bolsters and rear are vinyl.
