Well, if any of you remember, back in November I started a lemon law suit with Honda to try to get a new car because my S2K was in the shop five times for a hesitation problem (original post at: http://www.s2000online.com/forums/showthre...?threadid=1601). According to the Maryland State Lemon Law, once my attorney sent notice to Honda of my intention to start the lawsuit, Honda had one more chance to try to fix the car.

To make a long story short, Honda asked me to meet with one of their representatives at a different service center then the one a had been going to (still owned by the same dealership) so that they could inspect the car. The Honda rep quickly agreed that the car was not running correctly and asked me to leave the car at the service center so that they could attempt to fix it one last time. The service manager called me back 3 hours later and told me that the problem was 100% fixed, needless to say, I didn

Sam,

Glad to hear you're back on the road and that it was something minor What an ordeal!

Sam_S2K, don't you hate those replace all the parts but never diagnose service shops Glad your car was fixable. If they had to replace the whole engine I'd be skeptical about the car long-term. But a wire harness, no sweat If you don't mind me asking, how much did that E30 set you back. I've also been kicking around the idea of getting one to track.

Wow! If you recall a number of us have had problems with the MAP sensor, and I think it is the source of much of the issues attributed to VTEC inconsistency.

Congratulations in getting your car fixed, it is just a shame that you had to go to those extremes.

The performance of my car deteriorated after about a year and I went through two months of tests and troubles before someone on this board mentioned the MAP fix. I took mine off, tapped it to unstick the sensor (if needed) and sprayed some contact cleaner on the connections. The car has run great since then.

BTW, as stated in the opening post, don

I know a lot of people had similar problems with the MAP sensor...Honda told me that there was a bad batch of them produced and they have replaced the few S2K's that were effected. he Honda rep also told me that my wiring harness "issue" was one in a million, the last time he saw something like it was on a Civic back in 1986!!

Silver S2K,

I got my E30 M3 for a little less than $10k. I think I got a very good deal because the car runs extremely strong and is in great condition (especially the interior). I looked for a looong time and got very lucky. I suggest you take your time in your search, these cars are out there but many have been abused. Most of all, look for a car that is well maintained because parts are not cheap..."A $15,000 M3 may just be a better buy than a $8,000 car because the more expensive car has been maintained better." Send me an email if you want any other advise on what to look for and what to stay away from.

I hate service technicians. If the computer doesn't tell them what's wrong they don't know.

Give me a good mechanic any day.

Care to identify the dealership where this team of crack technicians was located? The ones that couldn't fix it as well as the ones that did.

Sam,

do you go to Summit?? Although it eats an entire set of pads, I have gone a couple of times with the S2000. I did
whomp 2 track setup E30's, plus a couple of E36 M3's too.

I even caught two of those silly looking M-roadster coupes Shoe looking things. Could be driver.???

Scot

are ya going to summit/jefferson/rausch at all this year?

JackTs2K,

The dealership was O'Donnell. They have two service centers, one in Catonsville and one in Ellicott City. The one in Catonsville (inside the beltway) sucks, they have no fu**ing clue what they are doing. The other one in Ellicott City is a pleasure to deal with...I highly recommend them.

Scot,

Yes, I go to Summit...I met you there in August!! Glad I am made such a lasting impression on you Also, IMHO, the E30 M3 with some modest modifications will run only slightly slower than the S2K on the track. The biggest difference for me is that tracking the S2K means risking an accident in a $35,000 car...whereas tracking the M3 means only risking $10,000! But whether I'm in the S2K or the M3, you will see me at the track in the spring.
