I know, it's a crazy idea, but you know it's coming. Let's just give Honda a heads-up on what we expect!

Our goal: What should the next generation of Honda's #2 sports car be? I say #2 because we can't forget the NSX. There are some things it can't be and still be the "S". Not mid-engine, not over $40K and not all aluminum skin - or it will be an NSX.

Our problem: If we get too close in price to the Vette we've got to have the grunt - and so far that's never been Honda! Our only chance is to out finesse them!

Now, OUR CAR: Let me start. I've called it the S3200 for obvious reasons - V6! Small, same technology as the 4, normally aspirated (so that it can be really made to go with after market SC/TC for those interested). Once again, it must be the most HP per CC in the business!

V6s are for family sedans.

Stick with I-4, but totally redesign the chassis. Make it weigh no more than 1500 lbs.

240 hp with only 1500 lbs to pull can be a lot of fun.

I like the idea, but there is already a real question about the S2000's rear suspension and handling with 50/50 (25/25/25/25) balance. I think if you put a big V6 up front you'd upset the balance even more. Of course a 3.2 liter V6 with 120 HP/liter (384 HP) would be terrific. I just don't think the S2000 chassis could handle the increased weight up front.

How many times do I have to tell you guys that the S3200 is a 4 NOT a 6.

Following the capacity increase of the 4 cylinder S500/600/800 series means we will logically have an S2000/2400/3200 range of 4 cylinder vehicles.

.... and don't forget the chain drive!!!!

Screw the V6. V6s are for family sedans. INLINE 6 ALL THE WAY!

Actually, I'd prefer it to remain an S2000, maybe an S2200/S2400. There's no way Honda could make a 3.2 V6 and keep the weight balance - the F20C is extremely light.

Screw 6 cylinders at all. It'd be awesome if they went with an inline-5 like the SSM show car had.

You know what would be really sweet is a 2liter high reving in-line four cylinder engine. A slick shifting tranny and ridgid frame to allow for a stiff suspension and a total weight of a few hundred pounds lighter than the competition. Use a race bred suspension (double wishbone) front and rear and you'd have a smoken sweet car. Oh and if they could figure out a way to have two cams (one smooth and one screaming that would just kick ass)

I'd buy one for sure.

Two words to keep in mind - Lotus Elise.
1700lbs, 2.4 liter (i4 - none of that v6 talk) with 180-190lb ft. of torque (at 6.5k), and a 10k redline.

just my $.02
