License plate on front grill...good or bad?
hey guys...my parents are giving me some crap about having the front plate in the windshield...they're really paranoid and stuff, and i guess i kinda agree with them about not giving the cops any more reasons to pull me over or give me a ticket or what not...so i was wonderin if it would be a good idea to put the plate on the front grill...would it block a whole lot of air flow to the radiator?..or would it not really do anything? IMO i think if i had to put the front plate on the car it would look better on the grill than it would on that POS license plate holder that honda put on the front bumper that comes with the car. thanks.
You should not only think of the air cooling the radiator, but also the air flow to your air intake would be hampered. If you have to have the plate, put it on its license bracket. Or, tell your parents that you will be responsible for any tickets you get by not having a plate up front at all. I've had my S for 15 months and have never had a plate up front and I have seen plenty of police. The key is not to give them a reason to pull you over or else they will give you a ticket for no front plate. What kind of driving record do you have? Can you be trusted not having a plate up front?
On the other hand, if giving you a ticket for no front plate(fixit ticket here in CA- no big deal) will save face for the officer who pulled you over for speeding- it might not be such a bad thing!
i have a perfectly clean record here in nj...i think the ticket for no front plate is 40 bucks...and no points...just a fixit dealie...do you guys know if having it in the windshield is even worth it?
Take a look at all of the cars out there (especially Vettes) that have no front plate and no plate in the window. We're all taking a chance and know it's illegal. But, we want our cars to, not only look good, but run better.
The plate in the window looks bad. If you don't want to put the plate on its bracket, break the bracket and if you get pulled over, tell the police that it broke and you have to get a new bracket. Just carry the plate in your car for putting it in you window to satiisfy the police.
