187k here on my 01. Bought it with 60k 6 years ago. Still runs great. All drivetrain is stock still and I've been boosted since 125k miles.

I did drive it a couple years through winter. I now have rust spots on both side right in front of rear wheels. Also the underside of fuel tank is rusted up and same for driver side floor panel is rusted a bit. All can easily be repaired but in northeast conditions the car will rust. I'm on the fence if I should do a full paint job to restore its exterior or sell it and buy something else or another S.

The engine is incredible on this car. To still be making over 400whp on stock motor with that many miles and boosted that long late in its life is very impressive to me!

Reading that makes me want to run and get a turbo kit

I have a Triumph TR8 which is 34 years old. The last time I drove it was a 2900 kilometer trip to pick up my injured son, who was not allowed to drive or fly, & bring him home for R&R. Had a great trip.

I have a Triumph TR7, which is 33 years old, & was my main daily driver until a couple of years ago. It now shares duties with the S2k.

As the S2k is better engineered & built than the Triumphs, I expect it to last somewhat longer than they have.

I'm more interested in how long a boosted S with proper mods would last, excluding turbine maintenance (seals/bearings)..? Anyone have high miles boosted without issues?
quick answer ...looks at the forced induction thread ...Here i'll save you the time "NO" ...if Honda didn't design it for the car to begin with adding it surely does not improve the car at all ...it ruins it IMO ....ive been in a boosted S and thought to myself how sad . My car is so much more balanced and fun to really drive hard ...its no contest ...you want a faster car , save your money and go buy a mustang with 100 shot ...and call it a day ...leave the S the way it was always meant to be ...THE WAY HONDA MEANT .
I totally agree with this . I have another S and the only upgrade is a FIPK, and it is indeed a ton more fun to drive than my boosted S everywhere but a straight line. And it sounds WAAYYY better, the turbo muffles the wicked roar of VTEC for sure!

Lol at FI ruining the car.

The answer is actually Yes. These engines can handle a lot of boost for a very long time! All in the tune. Forged internals stock. I think with boost they would last longer than most subarus that come stock with boost.

If worried about drive ability being the same as NA. But a supercharger kit. Feels NA and same power curve just lots more. Actually gives the car some power! Stock it has such low power it is painfully slow in a straight line.

Add a sc and it will feel stock just with 100-200 more whp. Reliability is the same as stock basically as well.

I can't confirm but should be able to agree with you Moddiction: If I ever boost my stock S it will definitely be a CTSC. My Turbo is just wayyy too much for anything but constant oversteer and correction, even with 305/30s in the rear!

it is like any of us, we can croak tomorrow or we might live to see a 100, you never really know?. I had the engine of my ap1 die unexpectedly despite being meticulously maintained while in my care, you don't know how cars were maintained prior to your ownership if you purchased used.

If you run these engines low on oil 1-2 times it's enough to kill them fast.
