I had a Prelude before I got my S. VTEC in the Prelude is barely noticeable compared to the S. Hope that helps.

LOL... Got the picture. There's a definite kick, not as noticeable as a turbo, but without the lag. The really exciting thing is there's no flat spots after that, the power comes just effortlessly like squirtin a hose in every one of six gears. At 95 mph (ish) you'd be changing up to fourth with 3k revs and two gear changes to go!!

LOL Do yourself a favour and go get a ride in one!

if u want the crazy pull, i'd suggest a B16A or B16B or even a B18C5. those are the most aggressive VTEC engagements. the B16s especially have a pretty aggressive top end. i know in my old EH3, the engagement usually terrified other drivers.

I am much closer to 125 when I shift into 5th!

for the record I would think the "lift" you get in the celica would feel fairly huge to you since it is so short... whats the redline 7k or so? 6k to 7k of "lift" ... I can see why you would be moving up. In an S2000 the "lift" is 1/3 of redline!

in the celica I used to shift at 8300 rpms but at 6k I needed a sign flashing "Please fasten seat belt and please keep all limbs inside the cockpit." That would have been really cool

Why in the hell are we comparing a Celica to an S2k? Explaining the feeling of driving the S2k isn't possible if you try to compare it to a Celica. I had a Celica before my 3kgt which I owned before the S2k. The Celica is a cheap sporty looking car. The S2k is a sports car. Get the S2k. You will look back and laugh for asking this question.

i am actually trying to get a feel for the lift charateristics of VVTL-i in the Celica GTS as compared with the VTEC of the S2000. I was just trying to see how much lift (or how much kick) each has. Cedric explained it very well when he said
"There's a definite kick, not as noticeable as a turbo, but without the lag. The really exciting thing is there's no flat spots after that, the power comes just effortlessly like squirtin a hose in every one of six gears." hell yeah!

I have noticed that the V-tec "kick" isn't as defined when I have over 2500 miles on the same oil. It comes back strong when I change it.
