krazik's S2000 is crazy fast. The difference 400 lbs makes can only be described as manic. Mine's pretty close to that, will be soon and I have the 4.57 gears too boot. Wow is about the only way to describe it. Remember the first time you unleased your car and the weak-kneed shit eating grin you had afterwards? It's like that all over again and then some.

1:54.9 is pretty darn fast for having street tires. I ran 2:02.9 in a totally stock S with the exception of brake pads and fluid. A little bit to much body roll for me. Also, it's never been aligned and my tires were pretty much toast. Hope to see you at another event.

From what I understand, the formula for weight to horsepower ratio is around 2900lbs/200whp = 14.5lbs/hp. So basically you'll get the FEELING of 1whp per 14.5lbs you save. But of course you have to add in all the weight of the fluids like gas, oil, radiator fluid and the weight of yourself and find out the actual WHP you are getting to make this exact.
Mine stock was 2750 with a 1/2 tank and me in the driver seat. 2750/206RWHP = 13.3LB/RWHP. Drop 400 lbs ala krazik and it goes to 11.4LB/RWHP, a 16% increase in power to weight or the equivalent of 239RWHP if you don't concern yourself with details.

Of course if you look at it purely as a power to weight problem then you are missing 90% of the gains. Less weight means a lot more than just less lard to haul down the road. It's less weight to stop and less weight to turn. Less weight, less inertia, less roll, more traction, faster braking, better handling. Krazik's S2000 will easily exceed 1.6 lateral Gs in a high-speed sweeper and brakes at almost 2Gs. 400lbs translates to roughly 6s per mile on a road course.

Remember that each pound is not equal. The more weight you take out the greater a percentage of the whole each additional pound becomes. The last lb is worth way more than the first. In krazik's case 1/2350th of the total vs 1/2750th stock. So while the first 100 will get you gains, the second will get you proportionally more and so on. The last 100 from 2450 to 2350 is HUGE.

Buy a hard top, and GUT the interior removing everything including dash, heater, AC, Windows, etc.

You have a 2350lb s2k.

... and buy a second S2000 for the winter.

Krazik,

The interior of the car is painted?

I mean, if somebody gut his black S2k, then he has to paint the grey interior?

The unibody is only painted grey on grey cars. If you have a black car, the unibody is going to be black.

I really notice the lighter load of a almost empty fuel tank. The car feels and handles better. Does anyone know how much 13 gallons of gas weighs? I find myself only filling my tank halfway quite often.
6lb per gallon, so 78lb.

Kris
