i love the manual definitely fun to drive. Now when i get stuck in traffic it's a bitch but you can't prevent that.. if i go on a long trip i'd prefer taking my accord which is auto..
I almost always take my slushbox equipped honda for that duty, plus road trip, moving/hauling purpose.
auto for daily
6 speed for fun and runs
You know, I actually taught myself to drive a stick, and I'm still learning four years later. That's the fun thing about a manual. You never stop getting better. It makes driving like an interactive game. With an automatic, you are driving. With a stick, you are driving.
You might want to take the advice that I got, which was to find a big open parking lot... like at a high school on a weekend. Start at one end of the lot and practice doing straight line shifts as you drive the length of the parking lot back and forth. Do lots of straight line shifts and get your feel for the clutch-shift rhythm. Then progress to turns. Once you have a handle on things, start on back streets and take it from there. The only truly difficult part of driving a manual is engaging on a steep hill from a dead stop. Try to avoid this sort of situation until you get very comfortable.
When I was learning, I was surprised that there weren't more sites on the Internet that taught how to drive a stick. That was four years ago, so the situation may have improved since then.
Good luck and don't stress out. Driving a manual is a challenge but a fun challenge. You can learn with no problem and be driving with some confidence within a month.

Manual, hands down -- unless you are talking about a Lincoln or something.
I even asked my ex to get an stick when she was getting her C230 Sport ... then I thought for a split secon: she couldn't even back into a parking spot properly ...
