I say unless your S is a DEDICATED track car, or you're going to weld the hardtop into place, there is no good reason to remove the softtop. Go on a diet and drive in your tightie whities if you're that concerned about weight. Don't forget to go #1 and #2 beforehand, too.

Ok... so you bought a convertable car... and now you want to make it essentially a permanent coupe? Oh yeah... the ST can be re-installed but have you ever done it? IT'S A PITA!!!

You didn't mention the REASON for wanting it out. I'm assuming it's because of extra weight and you wanted the added performance.

Not worth it IMO.

With a pair of fiberglass seats and the ST deleted my car feels much more agile in the corners. When I bought this car I thought it was a plus that it was a convertible but that isn't the reason I'm driving one. It's because it handles like a beast. Removing the soft top makes it that much more enjoyable in the corners. Not to mention a bit quicker through the shifts..

I considered removing the top (and actually began the process until I realized how long it was going to take, and how difficult it is to put back in) for the same performance reasons as everyone else. I actually drive top down 95% of the time, and the rest of the time the HT is on. I can litterally count the number of times I've used the soft-top in the last year on one hand, as I don't drive when theres a chance of rain. In the end... I would say the effort is not worth removal. If someone cut up my ST, I would not replace it, but the 50lbs wasn't worth the time to me.

Removing the soft top isn't just a weight issue...could be because someone wants to their nearly new top and motor for $750. If you don't need it, why keep it?

I disagree - likes and dislikes are just opinions and when the car hits the market lots of those opinions will change. Just look at the AP2, when it was 1st realsed people hated it too.

Making a comparison of an S with the soft top removed and an S that never had a soft top to me is a very logical comparison. You talk about it lowering the resale value . It really wouldn't lower it much, if at all because the addition of the HT would raise it back up? Are you changing the market of buyers that would consider purchasing the car, sure you are, but changing your potential buyer does not always mean losing money .

I have gutted the Soft top and its definitely not a mod for everyone, but for poeple who do value performance more than others (and are not top down all the time) I recomend it . The car feels fat with the HT and the ST both mounted at the same time (throw a passenger in and it starts to be even more noticable). once you remove the softop you will notice the difference.

I think anyone considering it should really think about it before doing it though, because re-installing teh Soft top is a pain in tha a$$, but its do-able. I will never put a soft top back in this car and I have no regrets, but then again I would have bought a coupe if it were offered
I'm with you, soon as my window is here the softtop assembly is coming out. If the car was offered in a coupe that's what I would have bought!

Mine S/T got crumpled so I went w/a HT which I was going to do anyway. I'm not a big top down guy, once in a while, but it's more of a hassle than any enjoyment I may get from it. I think the coupe looks way sexier and I like a/c

If it's nice enough to put the top down then it's too nice to put the top down, I don't like sitting directly under the sun, I don't like the cr*p that flys into the car and I don't like all the noise.

but.....I luv my S......

2k done professionaly.. The entire softop assembly from honda is 900. So I wasn't to worried about throwing mine away when those stupid theives hacked mine up. You have to carry this assembly for yourself. Then you might understand why it's such an improvement when it's not there.
Sorry. But $2000 might get you an entire soft top assembly at a healthy discount. The frame assembly lists at over 1500 and the fabric assembly lists at over 1100. Then there would be the shipping costs.
