So I'll be living abroad for 12-18 months and will be storing the S2000 during this time and I want to be sure I'm not overlooking anything. It won't be a total mothball storage situation though so let me explain.

The S will live in a family member's large, pest-free detached garage the whole time. I had planned on tasking my brother with driving it around the neighborhood about once a month or so though. It will only have storage insurance so the driving will simply be to get the engine warm, massage the tires, cycle fluids, charge battery, etc. I'd imagine that a bottle a Sta-bil and a 5-10 min drive once a month should be sufficient to deter any of the typical issues that can arise from parking a car for too long but if there is anything else I should take into account please advise.

You will find a bunch of threads on this subject.
You have the benefit (or not depending on your brother) of starting the thing every now and then. If it is run, it should be 20 minutes or so to allow everything to warm up properly to avoid condensation and corrosion.
May want to hook up a battery minder.
Keep the fuel tank topped off to avoid condensation and water vapor absorbtion by the fuel. Sta-Bil or SeaFoam is great.
Give it a good wash and wax; may even want to cover it.
Leave the top up and latched. Condition it.
Condition the leather well.
Make sure, as best you can, that no pests have access to the car. You should check well for them on your return.
Hope your brother does not do doughnuts on the golf course with it.

 

as per other threads as well...put a bag of sta-dry pellets in the trunk and cabin. park the car on a big piece of cardboard and carpet if its sitting on concrete.

I have been impressed that in a dry environment over the 6 months of winter up here, the brakes have remained rust free.

• Wash and wax the car
• Add Stabil to a nearly full fuel tank.
• Run it for 15 minutes.
• Park it and top off the fuel tank.
• Change the oil and filter.
• Pull the plugs and spray some fogging oil into the cylinders. (Reinstall plugs)
• Connect a battery tender.
• Unclip the top latches.
• Place some mothballs in open containers and put one in the passenger foot well, one in the trunk, and one under the hood.
• Pump the tires up to 40 PSI.
• Cover it with a soft car cover. (Old bed sheets will work too.)
• Don't start it until you get back.
